A Mid-Range Gaming PC.......done it myself [UPDATED]

OK SO I HAVE NOW UPDATED PRICES AND AFTER KNOWING THE PRICES I HAVE CHANGED MUCH...

Well people many of us have been looking for a config in which we can play most of the recent games and have some room for the future....at an affordable price that is.So i have been doing quite some research these days and i have been really trying to get the best deal out of the least money...since most of us have keyboards, mice ,cd-rom drive and a moniter so...(not included that)other than that this is what you need...

AMD Athlon 64 3500+ (Socket 939) (Rs 6,500)
Asus A8N-E V2.0 Motherboard NVIDIA nForce4 Ultra Motherboard (Rs 5,600)
Transcend 2 x 512 MB DDR-400 RAM (Rs 4,500)
200 GB 7200 RPM Seagate Barracuda Hard Disk (Rs. 3,700)
Forsa Geforce 7600GS 256 MB PCI-E card(7,500)
Onboard Realtek ALC-850 8 channel Sound Card (N.A.)
*Kunhar ATX Cabinet with 400 Watts SMPS (Rs. 2,200)
*Lite-On SOHW-1673S DVD-Writer (Rs 3,000)<== even this is recommened since it can
burn Dual layered DVDs
Total without the stars*= Rs,27800(Spend some money on the Kunhar ATX Cabinet with 400 Watts SMPS because such a machines those extra watts to run.)

*Other hardware which you might opt for if you are going for a total upgrade...

Amd Athlon 64 3500+ (Socket 939)
The Athlon 64 3500+ (939) is a powerful enough CPU for your gaming needs. Its core runs at 2.2 GHz and has 128 KB L1 and 512 KB L2 cache and a 1.6 GHz HyperTransport bus along with an integrated DDR memory controller that supports dual channel DDR RAM.After adding some extra fans...one can overclock this babe to 2.66 GHz which is brilliant.

Asus A8N-E V2.0 Motherboard NVIDIA nForce4 Ultra Motherboard
The ideal chipset for a Socket-939 CPU is one based on nForce 4 Ultra Chipset. It is a full ATX board with up-to-date specifications that include a 16X PCI Express slot, two 1X PCI-E slots, one 4X PCI-E slot, 3 standard PCI slots, Dual Channel Memory support, SATA/SATA2 RAID, Firewire, USB 2.0 and a lot more.(IN THE V 2.0 THE FAN PROBLEM HAS BEEN FIXED)

Transcend 2 x 512 MB DDR-400 RAM
Since the CPU combo supports dual channel memory, use two sticks of 512 MB DDR-400 RAM.

200 GB 7200 RPM Seagate Barracuda Hard Disk
40 GB more from 500 bucks isn't a bad deal.So it costs Rs 3,700.

Forsa Geforce 7600GS 256 MB PCI-E card
Well..this is a steal which is at a low price of 7.5 k...well it out does almost all of the 6600 series of nvidia and by the way in the 7600gs gs stands for golden sample. But the only DOWNSIDE is that: it is a poor over clocker.
UPSIDE is that : Good overall performance, Supports all the
recent graphics features, Worthy 6600GT
replacement, Well priced.

Conclusion
Well this is the best buy i have come up with...And for 30 k this is a great computer...and i have started to hate intel which makes just over hyped over priced boards...And if you sell your pc's stuff .... what u have to buy you'll will come around 15 k ,so only 15 k to spend.

hang on,
well, first of all, this is really cool of you to do all this research coz ive been wanting a new decent in-the-budget computer for some time now, so this'll be really very helpful.
achhaa, now i'm wondering, isn't 1.8 ghz a bit less?
and also, if i'm not wrong, the Seagate Barracuda has a 2 mb buffer as opposed to an 8 mb one, but i guess drives aren't much of a prob :)

look...sahil u r tie hynix is another good brand for RAM and regarding the 1.8 ghz it's actually that though it seems low as compared to de other intel ones but the games which support amd processors really dont need much speed...i have no idea why...eg:In most of the games it will be wriiten like The game Prey
CPU Speed: Intel Pentium 4 2.5Ghz / AMD Athlon XP 2500+ processor ...so this must spped is ok...that is why i recommend amd

oye...karks i bet u r wrong....the amd athlon had a written speed of 1.8 ghz and even after over clocking it reaches around 2 ghz so you cannot be right...chechk it up...u hv been trustin your dealer too much. And the amd athlon 64 3000+ should be having venice core....it comes in many but the venice 1 is de best

Blogger blog.sahil.me said...

are you sure about your clocking speed karky? and diggi, is the athlon64 dual core? coz if it is, then karky's might be and then his speed would be 2x1.8 which is 3.6. because you see, it ain't easy to clock a processor with a single core at 3.6 ghz anyway...

Blogger blog.sahil.me said...

and tell me, does 4x256 RAM come reasonably cheaper than 2x512?

7:53 am

Blogger DigVJ said...

look the thing is if you get 4x256 RAM chips u cant overclock the system ...if you try to overclock with 2*512 RAM then u can make 3500+ to go upto a speed of 2.66 GHz

9:00 am

Blogger DigVJ said...

srry said de wrong thing....i thought u were talkin about 4X 512 sticks....well u sayin about 256 .4 sticks...but temme dis sahil how many mother boards are there which support quadruple memory?

11:06 pm

Blogger blog.sahil.me said...

erm, most of them?

4:30 am

Blogger DigVJ said...

wel...srry....to tell ya but no....acha u r confusing ur self with pci slots...dey are diffrent...a

4:59 am

Blogger blog.sahil.me said...

dude......no i'm not! i know what PCI slots are :P
anyway, somebody told me that there are four slots...i guess that person's an idiot :D

6:24 am

Blogger blog.sahil.me said...

so listen, you've changed the processor and the drive, right? anything else?
oh and, now, another question regarding the processor: most new intel processors have a 2 MB L2 cache, others have at least 1 MB...so once again, isn't 512 less? (for that matter, how much of a difference does L2/L1 cache make anyway?)

6:27 am

Blogger arjun said...

i might be just confused but wasent there something about AMD giving their processors 2 queries or smthn per clock cycle instead of 1 thus making the effective speed 2*1800 but base speed being 1800Mhz
and intel giving theirs 4 per clock cycle
etc etc
think about it and tell me if im wrong
